R.I.P. America

I remember the last time I ached for my country like I do today.  It was a Tuesday morning, and I was sitting in my office watching television.  The date was September 11, 2001.  I watched fellow Americans leap hundreds of feet to their deaths to escape the flames.  My pain that morning was quickly overshadowed by anger, a desire for vengeance against the perpetrators of such evil.

Today is different.  I feel the same kind of pain and anguish for my country, but I'm all out of anger.  In its place is shame and resignation.  Shame that we have allowed this to happen to the magnificent gift we were given by men like Washington, Adams, Madison, and Jefferson.  Shame that the lives my children have in front of them are now colored by socialism and federal tyranny rather than freedom and personal responsibility.

I feel resigned to the idea that the statists have won.  There are too many people in our country who now expect the government to provide for them cradle to grave, too many who have learned what de Tocqueville warned about.......

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville

Three months ago in this space, I wrote the following line...

If the individual mandate is upheld by the court, then the great American experiment is over.

And over it is.  Next Wednesday would have been the 236th birthday of that experiment, but we didn't quite make it.  Of course, tomorrow morning the map will still read "United States of America", but that is in name only.  I've heard all the pundits and analysts today down in the weeds of Obamacare, talking penalty versus tax, pre-existing conditions, employer responsibilities, rising premiums, blah blah blah.

None of that crap matters one whit.  What matters is that the Supreme Court has said that the federal government can now tax you for not doing something.  The federal government can compel you to purchase a product.  It's health insurance today, what will it be tomorrow?

Those of us who love the Constitution, and believe in the idea of limited government, have been lied to.  We have been told that we should fight for our ideals at the ballot box and in the court rooms.  I never really believed that, but I was willing to play along. Not any more. The federal government has become a living, breathing monster, one that will never allow itself to be defeated by the mere act of voting.  We must now realize that the fight for freedom will require more stringent measures, just as it did almost 236 years ago.

Barack Obama- Wedding Planner!

When I decided to bring this story to the attention of the SACSTW community, I was kind of stumped.  I really couldn't come up with a snarky, ridiculous spin on it, and didn't know why.  Then it hit me....this story is really so inane and ludicrous on its own that it defies embellishment.  So here it is.....

Wondering what you are going to do with all those toasters after your nuptials this summer?  Have no fear, the Obama 2012 campaign has the solution.  Instead of you and your intended registering for gifts at Macy's,
Saks, or Dollar General, ask your invited guests for what you really want.....4 more years of the Obama administration.

The most powerful man in the world wants you to "register" your wedding, birthday, or other gift-giving occasion at his website and solicit donations to the campaign from your friends and family.  If you go here, you will see this:

Register with Obama 2012

Got a special milestone or event coming up?
Instead of another gift card you’ll forget to use, ask your friends and family for something that will go a little further: a donation to Obama for America. Register your next celebration—whether it’s a birthday, bar or bat mitzvah, wedding, or anniversary—with the Obama campaign. It’s a great way to show your support for a cause that’s important to you on your big day.
Just log in or sign up to build and customize your page—and congratulations!
The manner in which this man has degraded and defiled the office of the President of the United States gets more  pathetic and contemptible every day.  Remember, this is the same guy who wanted you to give him email addresses of your conservative friends so he could fill up their inbox with childish spam.
Look, if you like this concept that is great.  Just ask your guests to do something that is really worthwhile with their money.  Suggest a beneficiary like The Rotary Foundation, ShelterBox, or Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Any of those groups can do more good with $1 than Barack Obama has been able to do with trillions.

Defeat King Obama!

I've been thinking about this for a long time...

King Barry I

I can only come to the conclusion that when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is the right of the people, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Just a few of King Obama's abuses:
  • He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
  • He has forbidden governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
  • He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers.

  • He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
  • He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation:
  • Imposing taxes on us without our consent:
In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Patriots mark your calendars!  The revolution begins November 6, 2012! End the tyranny of King Obama!

Please let me know what you think of today's post.  I had the assistance of a few old friends in its writing.

Monday Musings With The Crew

I was just going through some old photos in the SACSTW Historical Archives, and found this one that I sentimentally call "The Great and Yakking Sahib".  Now, on with the countdown!

  • A ruling on round 3 of Obama vs. The U.S. Constitution appears to be forthcoming this week from SCOTUS, possibly even today.  This is the last scheduled week of the Court's term, and a ruling is also expected on Arizona's controversial immigration legislation. Nothing more important than the Obamacare decision will happen in the country this week.  It is literally a fork in the road for the nation.  If Obamacare is upheld, then Dear Leader and his statist cronies have the green light to continue "fundamentally transforming" America.  SACSTW will continue to stay on top of this story as it develops during the week.
  • Here is a story that tells you all you really need to know about Barack Hussein Obama.  We all know that he "loves" Hispanics, particularly the 60-70% of them that are solid Democrat voters.  He has railed about the inherent racism of securing our borders, blasted the GOP for being anti-Latino, and even sued the state of Arizona to curry favor amongst Hispanics.  Obama feels a close bond with his brown-skinned brethren, and holds them close to his heart......unless they have silverware.  Last Friday, Dear Leader made an appearance at a luncheon of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials in Lake Buena Vista, FL.  An announcement was made towards the end of the meal that all silverware would have to be turned in to Secret Service personnel before Obama entered the room.  So all you lib Latinos out there, Barry loves ya, but he still thinks one of you might try and shank him with a dessert fork in the rope line.  Next time you see him, why don't you ask him if he made George Clooney and Sarah Jessica Parker turn in their forks too.  Read the full story here at politico.com.
  • In what I can only assume is a completely fabricated crime update, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that 2 people were killed (including a 13 year old boy) and 13 wounded in 12 separate shootings within the city Saturday night.  I say fabricated because as we all know, there are no more guns on the streets of Chicago after the Police Department conducted their annual Murder Weapon Turn In and Evidence Disposal Gala on Saturday afternoon.  If the Trib is correct in its reportage, then we are left with the conclusion that liberal feel-good shams like gun turn-ins are colossal wastes of time, resources, and Other People's Money.  What?....you didn't think Rahm Emanuel was kicking in the 100 bucks per piece on Saturday did you?
  • Hey, here's a candidate for the worst thing I've ever heard.  Last year, Loretta Robinson's son Justin was killed by a drunk driver in Greenville, SC..  By the way, the drunk driver, Anna Gonzalez, is an illegal immigrant who has been in this country for 12 years and has never had a driver's license.  If that isn't outrageous enough, Ms. Robinson received a bill for $50 from the city for cleaning the street of her son's blood.  So.....it's not enough to just allow illegal immigrants into our country, provide them healthcare, education, employment...  Now we have to pay to clean up after them when they murder our children.  Anybody had enough yet?

Oh gee, I don't know what makes me think this is a bad thing.
  • The Arab Spring that swept Hosni Mubarak from power in Egypt was roundly hailed by Dear Leader as the beginnings of freedom, tolerance, and equality in the Arab world. Uh, not so much.  Muslim Brotherhood puppet Mohammed Morsi won the presidential run-off election in Egypt over the weekend.  If you are a U.S. citizen or a Christian of any nationality in Egypt, run, don't walk to the nearest embassy and get out of the country.  It is lost.

  • Let's end on a more lighthearted note this week.....I was trying to do some research on amphibious assault over the weekend, but all I could find was this....

Violence In Chicago To End On Saturday!

Let's say you are Joe Whiteywhacker, roaming the mean streets of Chicago on this beautiful Friday night in June.  You take a short break from felonious assault to drop in on your best girl Maria, only to find her in the sack with her nerdy boss.  Of course you are still carrying your work equipment, specifically a low-rent .38 revolver.  Two in the head for both Maria and Chad, and you're good to go.... right?  Wrong!  Now you gotta ditch your piece, can't get caught holding a murder weapon.

Good news Joe, all you have to do is turn your gat into the cops tomorrow!.  Not only will they take it from you no questions asked and destroy it, they will pay you $100 to boot!  Yes folks, once again it is time for Chicago's annual Murder Weapon Turn-In and Evidence Disposal Gala!

Saturday, June 23, Chicago police officers will be located at numerous churches throughout the city. They will take any and all weapons, no questions asked, and will be paying $100 per gun.  Just think, you can finally get rid of that old .22 that you killed the neighbor kid with, the 9MM you got from your mom's pimp when you turned 13, and even that beautiful vintage Colt you took off that old geezer when you bludgeoned him to death.

Heck, you get 4 or 5 of your thug buddies together, and you can come up with enough cash for something really cool like this.....
all courtesy of the Chicago Police Department.

Wait, it gets better.  Do you have any young goons in training in your home?  They can get $10 each for replica guns and BB guns at this year's event.  Now that really appeals to the capitalist in me.  Go down to every dollar store you can find, and clean them out of 99 cent cap guns.  Then.......Officer Friendly will gladly hand you $10 for each one of them.  Hey, where else in this economy can you make 900% profit overnight?  Besides carjacking I mean.

Of course this is all typically ludicrous liberal folderol.  There is NO, and I mean ZERO evidence that gun turn-in events have even the most microscopic benefit to society.  Why is Chicago such a violent and dangerous city?  Simple, it is a human shooting gallery.  Chicago in particular and Illinois in general are among the few places left in the U.S. where no citizen can legally carry a concealed firearm to defend themselves and their loved ones.  Joe and his buddies know this, and can feel free to cavort among the unarmed populace as violently as they wish.

If Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago PD were really serious about reducing violent crime in Chicago, they would hold a Gun Distribution Event.  Each tax-paying, law-abiding adult would receive a Glock 19, 2 magazines, and a voucher for 20 hours of training with an NRA instructor.  Then I might even feel safe enough to visit Chicago again.

Executive Privilege Indeed!

Dear Leader's decision to cover up the Fast and Furious debacle through "executive privilege" is an interesting one.  On one hand, it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  After all, no President has enjoyed the "privilege" of being our executive as much as Barack Obama.  We know all about the 100 rounds of golf, the multi-million dollar vacations for Weezy and the kids, the White House hootenannies packed with A list celebs,  with each and every minute paid for by the American taxpayer.

On the other hand, Barry did promise to run the most open and transparent administration in history.  Umm, not so much. Even a Democratic senator is blasting the idea of "executive privilege", take a look at this quote.....

There's been a tendency on the part of this administration to try and hide behind executive privilege every time there is something a little shaky taking place.  I think the administration would be best served by coming clean in this.

That is true and prudent advice that Barack Obama would be wise to follow, after all those are his words.  In 2007, then Senator Obama made those comments on the Larry King show when asked about George W. Bush's use of executive privilege.  This President raises hypocrisy to an art form like no other.

If we can look past the glaring double standard that Barack Obama employs, things get really interesting.  Weren't we told at the beginning of the Fast and Furious scandal that Attorney General Stedman Holder and President Obama had no knowledge of the operation?  If that is true, what exactly is Dear Leader hiding?  Of course it isn't true, Obama and Holder are desperately trying to perpetuate the illusion that they were out of the loop on this one.

Let's not forget the bottom line here.   Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed with one of the guns provided to Mexican drug runners by Barack Obama's Department of Justice.  Period.  Agent Terry's family deserves justice and to know the truth.  Unfortunately, both of those are in short supply within the Obama Administration.  Right Barry?

Conservative vs. Lib Dichotomy

This is what conservatives proudly display:

Star Spangled Banner over Fort McHenry

This is what libs proudly display:

George W. Bush head on HBO's Game of Thrones

Any questions?

Can you imagine the cataclysmic outrage if this had been Dear Leader Obama?
Happy Flag Day everyone!

DNC HQ Video from June 6

Video of the Year Candidate!

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has looked better...

State Department Takes A Hit Of OPM

So, you thought that 20 million in Other People's Money (OPM) was a lot to send Elmo to Pakistan on his failed junket?  If Muppetpalooza wasn't enough for you, how about Muffinpalooza?  Well brace yourselves folks, the same government that brought you $16 muffins have really upped their game.  Ladies and gentleman, may I present the $6600 Kindle!

Don't get me wrong here, the Kindle e-reader is a great device.  Mrs. Crew has one that she loves, and the reading experience on it is top-notch.  However......it's not worth $6600.

The U.S. State Department has decided that the Kindle is the best e-reader to provide to libraries and U.S. friendly schools abroad, and on that I certainly agree with them.  Obama's State Department has awarded a contract to Amazon to provide 2,500 Kindle Touch 3G's to help those abroad learn English and become more familiar with the U.S. and its technology.  Sounds good, right?

Let's do the math.  The Amazon Kindle Touch 3G is selling this morning for $189.  See for yourself.  If the feds buy 2500 of them at $189, that is a total of $472,500.  Let's add $11 per unit for shipping/handling etc, that brings us to a grand total of $500,000.  That's a lot of money folks, but here's the punchline...the federal government is paying Amazon.....wait for it..... 16.5 million dollars for those Kindles.  Let me repeat....for 0.5 million dollars worth of stuff, the feds are spending 16.5 million of your tax dollars!  That works out to a nice tidy $6,600 per Kindle.

The State Department claims the obscene contract is justified because Amazon is also required to provide customer service, provide content wirelessly through its 3G network, and share data on how to access content.  In other words, ALL THE STUFF THEY ALREADY DO FOR EVERY TOM, DICK, AND HARRY THAT BUYS A FREAKING KINDLE FOR $189!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read the contract specifications here, but please remove all sharp objects from your immediate vicinity before doing so.

Barack Hussein Obama: Better than Jesus!

The Argument is Compelling...

Chicago Jesus and his Acolytes
Is Chicago Jesus better than Nazarene Jesus? Maybe he is.  Please bear with me devoted readers. At first, I too was skeptical, but as I reviewed the life and legacy of this truly amazing man, it made me think twice. Follow along with me on his journey and you too may be converted.  The evidence submitted for your approval:

  • Nazarene Jesus:  First immaculate conception birth
  • Chicago Jesus:  First birth to occur in two places at the same time- Kenya and Hawaii
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Mary was pregnant before marrying Joseph
  • Chicago Jesus:  Stanley was pregnant before marrying Barack Sr.
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Died for our sins
  • Chicago Jesus:  Wants us to pay for our sins (real and imagined)
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Right-hand man Peter was always putting his foot in his mouth
  • Chicago Jesus:  Joe Biden.... Nuff said.
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Battles spiritual evil
  • Chicago Jesus:  Personally responsible for - Saving the American sea captain from Somali pirates, inventing the computer viruses that have plagued Iran, and the assassination of Osama Bin Laden
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Never had a girlfriend
  • Chicago Jesus:  Had a "compressed" girlfriend
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Had history books written about him
  • Chicago Jesus:  Had himself written into history books (actually, official White House website presidential biographies, but close enough)
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Multiplied the loaves and fishes
  • Chicago Jesus:  Increased the national debt by $5 trillion
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Took a 40 day 40 night vacation in the desert
  • Chicago Jesus:  Has taken 40 vacations and played 90 rounds of golf
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, and God are his mentors
  • Chicago Jesus:  Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and George Soros are his mentors
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Hung out with prostitutes, tax collectors, and other undesirables
  • Chicago Jesus:  Has $40,000 a plate fund-raisers with  Robert Downey Jr,. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cher, Jessica Alba, Sophia Bush, Jared Leto, Billy Crystal, Salma Hayek, Matthew Broderick, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Barrymore, Vanessa Williams, Lady Gaga, Will Smith, Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Spike Lee, Al Green, Mariah Carey, Will Ferrell, Jim Belushi, Robert Di Nero, Don Cheadle, J.J. Abrams, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Danny Devito, and billionaire Warren Buffett.. (OK, that one might be a wash.)
  • Nazarene Jesus:  Ministry on Earth lasted about 3 1/2 years
  • Chicago Jesus:  Devastation of the country lasted only 4 years
So dear readers, I think the evidence clearly shows that Chicago Jesus is superior to Nazarene Jesus.  Don't believe me?  Just ask him yourself.  I don't think he's on vacation or at a Hollywood fund-raiser today.  I think he's in HIS White House.

Monday Musings With The Crew

  • Dear Leader got his thong in a knot when asked about current White House security leaks, and whether they were done intentionally to bolster the Obama 2012 campaign. Sayeth Obama:  "The notion that my White House would purposely release classified national security information is offensive...".  Um, Barry, it's your administration, your re-election campaign, your Democrat Party.....but it's OUR WHITE HOUSE!  You are simply the current (and very temporary) tenant.  There's no squatter's rights at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue buddy.
  • Secretary of Commerce John Bryson had a fun weekend.  Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, Bryson was cited for felony hit and run after causing 2 separate car accidents within a few minutes of each other.  Bryson fled the scene after striking the first vehicle, and a few minutes later crashed into another vehicle. He was found unconscious in his car at the second accident site, and admitted to a hospital with "non-life threatening injuries". A Commerce Department spokesman said that Secretary Bryson's felonious actions were caused by "a seizure" that he suffered at the time of the incident.  No confirmation of that claim is forthcoming from either law enforcement or the hospital at the time of this writing.  Hmm.  A "seizure".  I'll have to remember that one.  I'm sure that Secretary Bryson will be treated just like you and I would in the same situation.  Stay tuned.
  • Harley Hanson is the "Exalted Cyclops" of the KKK's Realm of Georgia, and wants the KKK to adopt a 1 mile stretch of Georgia Route 515 for litter control.  The Georgia Department of Transportation is considering the request.  If it is approved, the Klan will be responsible for removing littter from the roadway several times a year.  Interestingly, the Klan has indicated they are willing to remove litter from the roadside ditches and shoulder, but not the blacktop itself.
  • I've told you before how much fun having Vlad Putin back in town was going to be, now take a look at these figures from foxnews.com.  Putin and his Parliament lackeys have introduced a new schedule of fines for various offenses.  A few of the more fun ones are listed here...
    • Illegal use of an automobile    $3600
    • Prostitution                            $75
    • Nuclear Material storage violation by a private citizen      $150    (???)
    • Participating in an unauthorized protest against the government     $9000
So, here's the bottom line in Putinville.  You can carjack a van, throw in half a dozen hookers
and a couple suitcases full of plutonium, and still be about $4800 bucks ahead of this guy....

Obama: Imbecile or Madman?

June 8, 2012-  Barack Obama:  "the private sector is doing fine"

Imbecile or madman?  After yesterday's press conference, that is all any thinking person can have left in their vocabulary to describe Barack Obama.  At the presser, he TWICE said "the private sector is doing fine", and went on to say that the major weakness in the economy is a lack of hiring by state and local governments!

Here's how I explain one of the most outrageous statements ever uttered by the President of the United States. Obama thinks the private sector is doing fine because he places so little importance and value on it.  To committed socialists, the private sector is not the engine of economic growth, rather it is only an impediment to their desired expansion of the role of government.

Barack Obama thinks the private sector is doing fine because he doesn't care about it, doesn't think about it, doesn't spend any time considering how to help it.  He really wishes people would just stop asking about it, so he can get on with the business of "fundamentally transforming" America. Well, I do care about the private sector.  Let me tell you about one tiny little part of it.

Anytown Animal Hospital is a very small veterinary practice in a major U.S. metropolitan area.  It is run as a sole proprietorship by a husband and wife who employ one additional person.  It came under its current ownership in 1991, and at the time had been a very poorly run business.  The practice experienced slow, steady growth throughout the 1990's.  Increased competition from several angles slowed that growth through the 2000's, but sales continued to grow.  As with any business, expenses grew every year as well.  Taxes, regulatory requirements, fuel costs, drug costs, they all have been on a steady upward trend.

The owners were comfortably middle class, able to save some money for their two sons' college education as well as their own retirement. Being self-employed business people, there is no cushy pension or health insurance benefits available to them.  Annual sales peaked in 2007.  2008 seemed to be going well until October, when sales dropped precipitously with the election of Barack Obama and the TARP fiasco.  At the end of 2008, sales had dropped 3.8% from 2007, the first decrease in 17 years.

2009 brought the Obama stimulus plan, and the economy went off the cliff, dragging Anytown Animal Hospital down with it.  You see, most people want to take care of their pets.  But money spent on veterinary services is still "disposable income" for most Americans, and under Barack Obama disposable income dried up fast for most of us.  2009 sales dropped another 6.1% from 2008.

2010 and 2011 brought a level of desperation to Anytown Animal Hospital.  Sales dropped 7.7% in 2010, and another 1% in 2011.  In total, sales have dropped almost 20% since Obama's election.

Unfortunately, expenses didn't go down concomitantly.  Sales decreases come right out of the owner's pockets. With the cost of doing business increasing every year, the owner's personal income has dropped 37% since Obama's election.  37%!

The owner has spent many long nights over the last two years agonizing about the practice.  Should he just close it up and walk away from the last 20 years of his life?  Should he try to get a second job, any job, just to be able to continue saving for the future?  Should he fire his only employee to buttress the bottom line?

Why has this happened?  Did Anytown Animal Hospital start doing something differently that caused sales to plummet?  I don't believe so.  The economic pain and uncertainty under Barack Obama has simply eliminated disposable income for many people in Anytown.  As his clients have endured Obama's "fundamental transformation", Anytown Animal Hospital's owner now finds himself 23 years into his professional career, and with an income last year less than the starting salary for a newly graduated elementary school teacher in the Anytown Public School District.

Mr. President, don't you dare tell me the private sector is doing fine.  I own Anytown Animal Hospital, and I know the truth.

Editor's note---  The answer to the opening question of this post is IMBECILE.

Morning In America

This morning, the sky seemed just a little more blue.  The birds were singing a little more cheerfully.  And for the first time in a long time, I have a little hope for the grand experiment in liberty known as the United States.  The architect of that hope is Scott Walker, who retained his job as governor of Wisconsin by winning yesterday's recall election by 7 points.

This was not just a political victory for Walker, it was a colossal first step in beating back the encroachment of leftist tyranny.  It was a emphatic statement that, at least in Wisconsin, ordinary citizens will not be cowed by union thugs.  They will not be intimidated by mobs of imported goons, nor allow their state to swerve off the long road back from financial oblivion.

This morning, Scott Walker, Rebecca Kleefisch, and every Wisconsin citizen who voted for them are American heroes.  Those on the losing side had a somewhat different reaction than the Crew......

Young man, it was indeed a bad day for the kind of mob rule democracy that leftists espouse.  However, it was a glorious day for the representative republic that our Founding Fathers provided for us.  Back to Civics 101 for you.

Say It Ain't So Elmo!

I received the news this afternoon.  It was heartrending really, it is always so when we lose something with so much promise.  Brace yourselves SACSTW readers.......Jihad Me Elmo has been canceled!

We first told you of  the Pakistani version of Sesame Street back in November, and expressed some degree of wonderment that 20 million in U.S. taxpayer monies were going to fund the project.  In a not at all predictable development, the Rafi Peer Workshop in Pakistan has been accused of misappropriating the monies.  Sesame Street producers in the United States were "surprised and dismayed to learn about the serious allegations made against Rafi Peer Theater Workshop".  No word yet whether those producers are similarly shocked that the sky is blue and the sun rises in the east.

The show's star did not take the news well........

Monday Musings With The Crew

Fresh off a weeks respite, I am back with another edition of Monday Musings.  Many thanks to Sahib for filling in with last Monday's posting.  Honestly, I didn't spend much time with the news over the weekend as my son had his first American Legion baseball tournament.  We spent most of the weekend at the ballfields, and the guys came away with the tourney championship!  First of many I hope.

Please be sure to read all the way to the end of this post, the payoff will be worth it!

Or anyone else I reckon....
  • The one thing on my mind in the world of politics lately is tomorrow's recall election for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.  Walker won election in 2010 by campaigning on a platform of fiscal responsibility at the state level.  He promised to pare back the extravagant salaries and benefits of state employees that were driving Wisconsin to ruin, and he won 52%-46%.  Then, he had the audacity to follow through with his campaign promises.  In the face of the thugs and goons imported from other states by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Walker succeeded in saving Wisconsin from a financial abyss.  You remember those thoughtful, intelligent, reasoned protesters.....you know, like this lovely lady.
  • Popular wisdom has the Walker recall vote as an early referendum on Obama's re-election hopes, and I agree to a certain extent.  A convincing Walker win definitely throws a wet blanket to Dear Leader's campaign, and on the SEIU goons that he fawns over.  Watch the returns closely tomorrow night, and we might be getting a peek into what's coming in 5 months.
in the HH days
  • Another of my all-time favorite celebs passed away over the weekend at the age of 79.  Richard Dawson was best known as the long-time host of Family Feud, but I first appreciated his dry British wit and suave persona on Hogan's Heroes.  Not only was he a great game show host, he was maybe the all time best celeb panelist on Match Game.  He estimated that during Family Feud's run, he had kissed about 20,000 female contestants.  Or, what Bill Clinton calls Tuesday night.

Uh Bill, don't look now, but that tall one is a dude!
  • Speaking of the first black President, Bubba was recently photographed in Monaco posing with porn actresses Brooklyn Lee and Tasha Reign.  Move along folks, no news here....

  • Finally, there's this.  After his beloved cat Orville (named after Orville Wright of course) was run over by a car and killed, Dutch artist Bart Jansen had him stuffed by a taxidermist.  Nothing TOO weird about that, it is done from time to time.  What's not often done is then turning the deceased into a remote control helicopter.  That is just what Jansen and RC helicopter enthusiast Arjen Beltman did, attaching helicopter propellers to each paw and creating the "OrvilleCopter".  Read the article (and watch the video) here.    Behold........the OrvilleCopter!

Hollywood HOs: 'Don't Want No Retard Baby' Margaret Cho

Hollywood HOs
Once again it was a dog-fight for this week's Hollywood HOs winner.  It was a battle of clueless versus vile and vile won out.  Kathie Lee Gifford was the runner-up with her interview of Martin Short where she commented on how great of a marriage they have and asked how long they've been married.  Martin Short's wife died of ovarian cancer in 2010.  As clueless and self-serving as Kathie Lee is, it wasn't malicious.  And we nominate Martin Short for Hollywood Hall of FAME for his classy handling of the issue.  He didn't bust her on live TV.  Being the evil person I am, I would have said: "You want to know our secret?  She never talks back."  I know it would have been WRONG, but that's just me.

Hollywood HOS Cho
But I digress.  Without further adieu, this week's winner is another classy lady in the proud tradition of previous Hollywood HOs Cher, Hanoi Jane Fonda, Roseanne Barr, and Sarah Silverman. Congratulations Margaret Cho!  She had these wonderfully sensitive things to say recently on Bravo:
“My period comes like twice a month. My eggs are jumping ship,” she said. “Seriously, they’re like, ‘the last one out’s a retard.”
“I get worried about that, as an older woman, I don’t necessarily want to have a retard,” she said.
You want your kid to have the best chance at life,” she added. “I’m trying [to get pregnant]. It’s hard for a lesbian.”
And there you have it devoted readers, another one of those lovable "quirky" Hollywood types. And guess what boys and girls?  She's married.... to a straight guy...
"It's not a traditional situation. It's not a committed marriage. We're just friends who share space. My parents don't understand it. They just send us Yahoo E-cards wishing us well."
And she had this to say about voting rights for prisoners:
"It is tragic that people who are incarcerated are unable to vote. They are probably the most important voices to listen to because they can tell us what we need to change. Yet they are arbitrarily silenced, as if forfeiting their right to vote punishes them. In truth, it punishes the rest of us because it turns the right into a privilege. Whenever privilege is introduced, there are problems. We cannot afford any more problems."
My goodness, where was she when I was single?  Have a great weekend everyone!
