Monday Musings With The Crew

  • The state of California has a law on its books that states when an unlicensed driver is pulled over by police, their vehicle SHALL be impounded for 30 days.  Pshaw! says the Los Angeles Police Department.  LAPD Chief Charlie Beck has announced the department's new policy of ignoring state law.  The LAPD will not impound the vehicles of unlicensed drivers as long as they can produce some other kind of ID.  Of course, the vast majority of unlicensed drivers in Los Angeles are illegal immigrants.  Chief Beck said the new policy was simply leveling the playing field, as many unlicensed drivers have low-income jobs and can not afford the fines associated with impoundment.  "It's about fairness" said Beck.  Glad to know that the LAPD is dedicated to leveling the playing field for......criminals.  In related news, banks in LA will now be required to keep all cash reserves in a laundry basket in the parking lot, so as to "level the playing field" for bank robbers.  Chief Beck and the 4 members of the L.A. Police Commission that voted in favor of the new policy should be relieved of their duties immediately.
Somebody alert Kobayashi!
  • The Texas Rangers will be selling hot dogs at their stadium this year.  Not exactly earth-shattering news right?  It is when the hot dog sells for $26!  The Champion Dog is a one pound weinie, served with chili, onions, and cheese on a 2 foot long bun.  The Rangers are also installing self-service defibrillator stations on the concourse.

  • A video of Barack Obama's next Secretary of Education has surfaced on Youtube.  She is the one in the passenger seat....
