Monday Musings With The Crew

it's been a good year....

  • Congratulations to the KState men's basketball team on their first conference championship (albeit shared!) since 1977.  Attention KU fan, if you are going to count your shared titles in 2005, 2006, and 2008,  we are counting this one.
  • A 25 year old high school softball coach has lost his job after "allegedly" asking some of his female players to "find a cute girl" for him to date.  Troy Hennum was on the job at Roosevelt High School in Seattle for a grand total of 6 days.  I suppose we can be thankful he was just using his players to find him dates, instead of actually dating his players.  More here.

Very fly in the prison
orange Mr. Mayor!
  • Former Detroit mayor and current scumbag Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted today of multiple counts of racketeering and corruption.  When last we saw Mr. Kilpatrick, he was doing 14 months in the slammer for probation violations related to a case involving his affair with his chief of staff.  Maybe I should start a weekly "Democrats in prison jumpsuits" feature here at SACSTW!
  • Dennis Rodman's little buddy Kim Jong Un has evidently gone off his meds.  The North Korean crackpot has canceled the armistice agreement that ended the Korean War.  Somebody better tell Hawkeye and Beej.
  • Found some old video of Howard Dean the other day, he's the one in the green......

Monday Musings With The Crew

Folks, I tell ya, some days this blog just writes itself.  Shall we begin?

Tryouts at Saudi Olympic Headquarters
  • Saudi Arabia has announced they will be sending 2 female athletes to the Summer Olympics for the first time in the history of the Kingdom.  Initially they were to compete in beach volleyball, but they kept tripping over their burkas when trying to serve the ball.  The Saudi Olympic Committee has decided the women will be entered in this year's newest Olympic sport.....stoning.
  • Music fans in London's Hyde Park area were more than a little miffed when local authorities pulled the plug on a recent concert during the encore.  The reason....the show had run longer than the 3 hours the city council had alotted to it.  So, off with the sound.  That's what nanny state governmental intrusion has in store for this country!  Heck, it really wasn't that big of deal.  I mean, it was only a concert by a couple of no-name hacks...... Bruce Springsteen and Sir Paul McCartney.  The cozy little crowd of 76,000 was not amused.

Why, she could be Mary Poppins!

  • Charlie Sheen just can't get a break.  All he wanted to do was hire Lucy Treadway to be a nanny for his kids, when the ex-wife Brooke Mueller nixed the idea.  Why?  The erstwhile governess was "too hot".  Come on Brooke, one look at Lucy's picture and you can see she just exudes responsibility and integrity, and poses no risk to anyone's vows.  In fact, I have contacted Lucy about caring for my two boys.  Being 16 and 20 years old, they are quite enthusiastic about the prospects of Lucy joining the Crew's household!
  • Finally there's this.  The Voter Participation Center is a group that targets likely Democrats who are unregistered.  The VPC then sends out a voter registration packet to them.  According to hotair.com, recipients of the packets include Rosie Charlston, a Labrador Retriever who died in 1998, Scampers the cat from Virginia, a deceased dog named Mozart, as well as actual human beings who are no longer above ground.  Page Gardner, president of the VPC, published a statement in response to the report at the group's website, www.voterparticipation.org.  Ms. Gardner's statement is the funniest thing I have read in a LONG time (SACSTW posts excluded of course)!  The heartfelt earnestness tinged with liberal indignation meant I could not get past the first paragraph without bursting into maniacal laughter.   Try it yourself......
The mission of the Voter  Participation Center is to register qualified voters- NOT (emphasis hers) dogs and cats.  Pets cannot submit voter registration applications and they cannot vote- which seems to be news to some people, given all the attention some small number of pets receiving a voter registration application has received.
The story isn't that dogs vote- something that cannot happen- it's about the people who cannot.

Hey look, this is actually great news.  Now we can put an end to the controversy over voter ID legislation, and everybody just use your rabies tag!

Monday Musings With The Crew

From time to time we here at SACSTW like to look beyond governmental follies and secular progressive inanity to engage in serious, thought-provoking analysis and commentary.  This is not one of those times.
  • From the "how did I miss this last week" department.....Another law that took effect January 1 in Illinois allows holders of a valid trapping permit to collect furbearers killed on Illinois roadways for their pelts and even for food.  Asphalt trappers are urged to wear protective gloves and glasses to avoid exposure to "fluids" that may be harmful.  The recently departed along the highways and byways of Illinois can also be kept for food, although Bob Bluett with the Illinios Department of Natural Resources says "it depends on what shape it's in and how long it's been there".  Note to reader- decline any and all dinner party invitations from Mr. Bluett.  Read more about this story here.
  • Alan Colmes is a vile and digusting human being.  During a Fox News Channel appearance last week, the execrable Colmes ridiculed Rick Santorum for the manner in which his family dealt with the death of a new-born child.  Take a look at this video.  Note around the 1:48 mark where Colmes denies "mocking" the death of a child, and starts to say what he was really mocking....then corrects himself.  Kudos to Rich Lowry from The National Review for pinning Colmes's miserable hide to the door.

After his comments generated much well-deserved criticism, Colmes issued an "apology" to Santorum for his hurtful words.  Translated from liberal-ese..."I'm sorry I let my guard down and revealed my true despicable nature on national TV".
  • Quick, look through your bookshelves and coffee tables at home to make sure you don't have any overdue books from the Charlton, Mass. Public Library.  Evidently in Charlton the local police call on 5 year old library patrons with overdue materials at their home and threaten them with arrest.
  • A 2006 law banning men from working in women's clothing/lingerie shops in Saudi Arabia is finally going to be enforced.  Boycotts from women reluctant to buy their intimate apparel from male employees have pressured the government to begin enforcing the law.  The leading retailer of women's clothing in Saudi Arabia, Gunnysacks "R" Us, has made no public comment.

  • An Australian tourist visiting Zimbabwe had an interesting bungee jump from the Victoria Falls bridge recently.  Erin Langworthy, 22, leaped off the bridge and plummeted toward the waters of the Zambezi River.  Her bungee cord snapped, and she was sent hurtling into the crocodile-infested river with her feet still tied together.  Miraculously she survived the fall, and was able to swim to shore safely.  Now folks, the Crew recommends against bungee jumping under almost any circumstances, but particularly when the waters below look like this....
