Monday Musings With The Crew

  • In August of 1974, a Republican president resigned his office after his complicity in the Watergate affair surfaced.  As is the case with many transgressions, the cover-up was worse than the crime (just like your momma has told you all these years).  The President had ordered high-ranking members of his administration to lie to the American public about the break-in, and proceeded to do the same himself.  Exactly 0 people died as part of the Watergate affair.  In the past 3 weeks, Barack Obama has ordered high ranking administration members (SecState, UN Ambassador, etc) to lie to the American public about the murder of 4 Americans, including a U.S. Ambassador.  Obama has then proceeded to repeat those same lies to the American public himself.  At least Nixon had the courage to do what was best for the country by resigning.

  • Watching Obama 2012 downplay expectations for Wednesday's presidential debate has been quite smirkworthy.  The best part was David Axelrod batting his sad puppy dog eyes at the media while lamenting Obama's lack of time for debate prep.  He's just been too busy "governing the country" according to Axelrod.  Unless blowing off heads of state and hanging with Mr. and Mrs. Knowles is "governing the country", I beg to differ Dave.  But hey, it was a funny line.....
    • late update-  John Kerry joined the Obama sympathy club over the weekend, sniffing that it's just not fair that Barry can't properly prepare for the debate, after all "he's got a day job".
  • Remember Amanda Clayton?  She was the Michigan woman who gained notoriety earlier this year after it was discovered she was receiving food stamps despite having won over $700,000 in the lottery.  Sahib covered her story brilliantly here.   I can hear you now, um...Crew...why are you referring to Ms. Clayton in the past tense?  The answer is....because she was found dead of a drug overdose in a Detroit house over the weekend.  I will not revel in the death of Ms. Clayton, I will only comment that karma is in fact a bitch.
  • Speaking of trips down memory lane, one gas station owner did just that recently.....  Actually the day Obama took office gas was $1.67 at my neighborhood station.

  • Weapons obtained from Holder Arms and Ammo (aka the U.S. Justice Department) have been linked to a 2010 massacre of 16 people in Juarez, Mexico.  Many of the victims were teenagers attending a birthday party.  Speaking of resigning from office......are you listening Mr. Attorney General?  Read more here.

Do you really want to know?
  • Chinese cuisine is was one of my favorites.  That is until I read about the Red Flower Chinese Restaurant in Williamsburg, KY.  The restaurant has been cited for serving road-kill after a customer observed employees wheeling a mangled deer into the kitchen.  The owner's son has admitted to picking up the deer along I-75 outside of town.  The owners claimed they "didn't know we couldn't do that".  Ugh. Maybe the health department should have been concerned about the Red Flower's menu, featuring General Tire's Chicken, Moo Shu Possum, and Crab Raccoon.

Monday Musings With The Crew

This morning I am giving serious thought to the sorry state of education in the United States, as evidenced by Barack Hussein Obama.  Seriously folks, let's take a quick look at Dear Leader's class schedule, and see if he can pass any of the basics.....

  • ENGLISH 101-  Also known as "Words Mean Things" class.  In last week's video address to the nation, Dear Leader continued his assault on "Big Oil" and the English language by averring that oil companies continue to get "4 billion of your tax dollars in subsidies every year".  Well Barry, you're going to have retake the vocabulary unit of this course.  A subsidy is defined as "a sum of money paid directly from government to a private industrial undertaking, charitable organization, or the like".  Repeat after me class, OIL COMPANIES ARE NOT RECEIVING 4 BILLION DOLLARS IN SUBSIDY PAYMENTS FROM THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT!  They ARE benefiting from business tax deductions that were they taken away would increase oil companies tax burden by about 4 billion.
          • F
  • REMEDIAL ECONOMICS-  So, Barack Obama's idea on how to lower your gas price at the pump is to increase the tax burden on oil companies by 4 billion dollars.  Raise your hand if you think that Dear Leader has this one exactly backwards....
          • F
  •  U.S. GEOGRAPHY-

Uh.....F
  • WORLD HISTORY-

Most Obama sources agree that Barack Sr. was born in June of 1936.  Somehow he managed to serve in World War 2, even though it ended when he was 9 years old.  Hmmmm.  He must have been part of the vaunted Kenyan Kiddie Korps that helped sweep Rommel from the continent.

F
Come to think of it, let's give Barry another F for math class with this one.

  • Health Class...................

F

One final multiple choice question class.......Based on what we have learned from Barack Obama's report card, choose the one that best applies

A:  Barack Hussein Obama is an uneducated twit, unable to grasp even the most basic concepts.
B:  Barack Hussein Obama is simply a mouthpiece for the progressive left.
C:  Barack Hussein Obama is a pathological liar, rife with contempt for you, the American taxpayer.
D:  All of the above.

Monday Musings With The Crew

Welcome to the first edition of Monday Musings for 2012.  A veritable New Year's cornucopia of topics, from the insane to the ridiculous.  Let's start with the insane...

  • A new Rasmussen poll revealed that only 5% of Americans approve of Congress.  To put that in perspective, other recent approval ratings as determined by polling..
    • Charles Manson   9.5%
    • Lindsay Lohan     18%
    • British Petroleum  16% (taken during the spill)
    • Dying alone          38%
The insane part of this nugget is that 5% of Americans actually approve of Congress.  If you know one of these people, do not approach them.  Contact the authorities immediately.

  • The average American family spent a record $4150 on gasoline in 2011.  I actually heard a lib talking head say that means the economy is improving!  Uh, no.....demand for gasoline actually pulled back during 2011, the record spending was due to the high energy prices supported by the Obama administration.  On the day Dear Leader was inaugurated, gasoline was $1.67 at my neighborhood gas station.  Along that vein, Iran is making noises about blocking the Strait of Hormuz, thereby choking off a major source of Middle Eastern crude for the West.  Hey Barry....can we actually start developing our own resources NOW?  Start drilling, approve the Keystone pipeline, and let's get this country on her own two feet.
  • Rest easy SACSTW fans, you can continue to read your favorite blog by the blinding light of a 100W incandescent bulb for a few more months (at least in the U.S).  January 1, 2012 was supposed to be the end of the 100W bulb, but Congressional action in December pushed that back to at least October.  If you have already made the switch to compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs, you surely have the local HAZMAT team number on speed dial just in case you break one of them right?
And now on to the ridiculous.....January 1, 2012 saw the implementation of over 40,000 new laws and regulations in the United States.  Seriously, after over 200 years of existence we still need 40,000 new laws every year?  Some of the more interesting new laws on the book

  • Schools in California are now required to teach students about the contributions made to America by gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people.
  • Utah has banned daily drink specials in bars....the end of "happy hour" as we know it.  Coming from one who enjoyed "Monday Four-fers" as a young college student, this makes me sad
  • Georgia now requires golf carts that are driven off the course to be equipped with brakes, reverse warning signal, tail lights, hip restraints, and a horn.  Come to think of it, maybe this one is OK....

  • Illinois now allows motorcyclists to proceed through a red light if it fails to turn green "within a reasonable time".  Hmmm, no potential for trouble there......
  • Illinois also is making it illegal to dispose of electronics such as TV's, keyboards, printers, etc into a landfill.  The measure is aimed at getting toxic materials out of the landfills and into your light fixtures.

Have some fun today folks, google "ridiculous new laws for 2012" and see what else your elected leaders have been up to.  Just a note of caution, be sure to have plenty of Pepto-Bismol on hand.
