Monday Musings With The Crew

Now that chicken-palooza has died down a little bit, on with the countdown!

  • Another mass shooting took place yesterday at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee, WI.  Six people were killed and four wounded before police shot and killed the suspect, 40 year old Wade Michael Page.  Page, described as a U.S. Army veteran with "white-supremacist" tattoos, apparently lived in nearby Cudahy, WI.  This will probably turn out to be misdirected craziness by another ignorant mouthbreather, Sikhs have been targeted by anti-Islamists frequently since 9/11.  One interesting sidebar is how quickly this shooting was labeled "domestic terrorism" by government officials.  Contrast that with the 2009 killing of 13 people at Fort Hood by an "allahu akbar" shouting radical Islamist Nidal Hassan.  Almost 3 years later, that massacre is still officially just "workplace violence".

That's not how Harry rides Stanley
  • So I just got off the phone with a highly placed staffer in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office this morning.  Under strict conditions of anonymity, he told me that Senator Reid regularly forces himself on Stanley, Barack Obama's favorite unicorn late at night in the White House stables.  Evidently the violated Stanley was overheard by a stable boy pleading "Please stop Senator, I vote NEIGHHHHH" !  Don't believe me?  I have just as much evidence of Reid's unicoupling as he does for his claim that Mitt Romney hasn't paid any taxes over the last 10 years.  Reid's pathetic and immoral rumour mongering on the floor of the U.S. Senate (where he is immune from any blowback) is another example of one of the left's favorite mantras....."it's not the nature of the evidence, it's the seriousness of the charge".  Just ask Clarence Thomas, the Duke lacrosse team, Steven Pagones, Stanley, the list is endless.

  • Oft-cited by anti-voter ID wonks, the Brennan Center for Justice claims 11% of eligible voters do not have a government issued photo ID.  Okey dokey, let's run some numbers for the state of Kansas.  Kansas passed a voter ID law in the last few months which has its first trial run with tomorrow's election.  There are 1.7 million registered voters in Kansas.  Let's round down to 10% to make the numbers easy....that means as many as 170,000 voters in Kansas don't have photo ID.  Obviously the  DMV offices in Kansas have been flooded with tens of thousands of voters seeking a FREE photo ID.  But wait Crew you say, some of those voters have no way to get to the DMV for the free ID.  OK, let's say that 90% of those 170,000 Kansans are incapable of getting to an office for their ID.  That still leaves 17,000 beating down the doors for their ID.  Um, not exactly.  Of those 170,000 Kansas voters that the Brennan Center claims are out there, a grand total of 32 have taken Kansas up on the offer of a free ID.
  • The good news is that the Mars Rover landed safely on the red planet late last night.  The bad news is that Barack Obama wasn't on it.

Monday Musings With The Crew

Folks, I tell ya, some days this blog just writes itself.  Shall we begin?

Tryouts at Saudi Olympic Headquarters
  • Saudi Arabia has announced they will be sending 2 female athletes to the Summer Olympics for the first time in the history of the Kingdom.  Initially they were to compete in beach volleyball, but they kept tripping over their burkas when trying to serve the ball.  The Saudi Olympic Committee has decided the women will be entered in this year's newest Olympic sport.....stoning.
  • Music fans in London's Hyde Park area were more than a little miffed when local authorities pulled the plug on a recent concert during the encore.  The reason....the show had run longer than the 3 hours the city council had alotted to it.  So, off with the sound.  That's what nanny state governmental intrusion has in store for this country!  Heck, it really wasn't that big of deal.  I mean, it was only a concert by a couple of no-name hacks...... Bruce Springsteen and Sir Paul McCartney.  The cozy little crowd of 76,000 was not amused.

Why, she could be Mary Poppins!

  • Charlie Sheen just can't get a break.  All he wanted to do was hire Lucy Treadway to be a nanny for his kids, when the ex-wife Brooke Mueller nixed the idea.  Why?  The erstwhile governess was "too hot".  Come on Brooke, one look at Lucy's picture and you can see she just exudes responsibility and integrity, and poses no risk to anyone's vows.  In fact, I have contacted Lucy about caring for my two boys.  Being 16 and 20 years old, they are quite enthusiastic about the prospects of Lucy joining the Crew's household!
  • Finally there's this.  The Voter Participation Center is a group that targets likely Democrats who are unregistered.  The VPC then sends out a voter registration packet to them.  According to hotair.com, recipients of the packets include Rosie Charlston, a Labrador Retriever who died in 1998, Scampers the cat from Virginia, a deceased dog named Mozart, as well as actual human beings who are no longer above ground.  Page Gardner, president of the VPC, published a statement in response to the report at the group's website, www.voterparticipation.org.  Ms. Gardner's statement is the funniest thing I have read in a LONG time (SACSTW posts excluded of course)!  The heartfelt earnestness tinged with liberal indignation meant I could not get past the first paragraph without bursting into maniacal laughter.   Try it yourself......
The mission of the Voter  Participation Center is to register qualified voters- NOT (emphasis hers) dogs and cats.  Pets cannot submit voter registration applications and they cannot vote- which seems to be news to some people, given all the attention some small number of pets receiving a voter registration application has received.
The story isn't that dogs vote- something that cannot happen- it's about the people who cannot.

Hey look, this is actually great news.  Now we can put an end to the controversy over voter ID legislation, and everybody just use your rabies tag!

Make sure you don't miss any of the fun here at SACSTW......like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!

Monday Musings With The Crew

  • The NAACP is taking their case against voter ID laws to the United Nations.  The group will make a presentation in Geneva, Switzerland this week to the UN Human Rights Council addressing the NAACP's concerns that voter ID laws in the United States are discriminatory to black voters. I guess it makes sense.  After all, the membership of the UN Human Rights Council includes such experts in voting rights as Cuba, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, Uganda, and Libya.  I think the NAACP may have finally met an organization that can match their own level of hypocrisy.

  • Speaking of liberal hypocrisy, the price for it is evidently 1 million dollars.  That is how much Bill Maher contributed to the Barack Obama SuperPAC recently.  You remember Bill Maher, the left-wing misogynist who spews vile commentary about conservative women.  When informed of Maher's donation to his PAC, Dear Leader immediately directed the money be returned, saying "I am against all hate speech, including when it comes from the left.".  Whoops!  Sorry about that folks.  We must have slipped into an alternate universe where Barack Obama is a man of honor and principle.  Back here in the real world, the administration responded to Maher's donation by booking senior adviser David Axelrod to appear on Maher's HBO show.

  • Mrs. Crew pointed out an interesting blog to me this morning.  The Christian Left blog has an article called "The Enemies Within: The 20 Most Dangerous Conservatives and Their Organizations" from last August.  Quite frankly, I am outraged!  Sahib and I aren't on the list!  Obviously it is a complete sham!   Uh, wait a minute.  The article was published on August 5, 2011, a full 8 days before the Era of SACSTW began.  I fully expect we will be included in the 2012 update.
  • It's been a while since we ran a video of a squirrel in a peanut butter jar, soooo...........

That's it for this installment of Monday Musings.  Back to your bracket everyone!
PS- the first #1 to lose will be Syracuse vs KState in the second round.
