Sahib's Great Toilet Paper Conundrum

The Anatomy of an Attempted Discussion with a Liberal

Recently, something my high school American History once said has really been sticking with me.  He said that he never read conservative opinion columnists because he agreed with them.  He read the liberal columnists because he wanted to know what the enemy was thinking.  Hence, I have been spending some time reading the Huffington Post.  After a few months of this, I can tell Mr. Englund what the liberals are thinking... NOTHING!  The following is a typical interaction with a liberal commenter on the Huffington Post:

I was reading a story about a study that was reporting that 10% of US watersheds were "under stress".  They had a nifty map and everything.  Green was good. (of course it was)  Red was bad.  Here it is.
Notice anything about where most of the problems areas are?  We have such smart readers.  You guessed it!  The desert areas.  Like in all other things, California has the biggest problem which prompted the following comment from yours truly, Sahib.

“Wow, this is a real puzzler. The population of California has nearly quadrupled since 1950 and the water supply is stressed. What a shocking development! I had a similar mysterious problem where I live. When I was single I only went through a roll of toilet paper a week. Now that I have a wife and two boys, I need a lot more than that. Maybe there's a climatologist out there with computer model that can explain it for me.”

Which prompted the following exchange with OldJazzyGirl:

OldJazzyGirl
“Better yet............You could explain WHY righties SCREAM about CONTRACEPTION?”

“Huh? Use it whenever my wife and I have relations.  Two boys are enough for me.  There are occasionally loud noises, but I wouldn't exactly call it screaming.”

At this point, the conversation takes a swift detour from the original topic...

OldJazzyGirl
“Perhaps you could connect population explosion and why we need easily accessed contraception for ALL?”

Not sure that anyone really believes in a "population explosion" in the US anymore, but I figure I'll play along...

“Since when has it been hard to come by?  I've been able to access it without problem since I was 16.  And believe me, I wasn't about to ask anyone else to pay for it when I was 16.”

OldJazzyGirl
“Apparently, you are SPECIAL. Take your head out of the sand.”

“Again, since when have contraceptives been hard to come by?  Condoms are about $1 a piece.  Generic birth control pills range from $10 to about $35 a month without insurance.  Doesn't seem that daunting to me.”

OldJazzyGirl
“It is for some people. And you need a doctor's prescription for birth control pills. The uninsured?
And guess what....The world is bigger than you. To suggest that because something is easy for you so, therefore, it should be an identical experience for everyone else suggests that your head is somewhere other than in the sand.”

“The world is bigger than me?  Wow, didn't know that.  How about instead of spouting hyperbolic rhetoric you provide some concrete examples of how excruciatingly hard it is for people not living in my apparent Mecca of contraceptives to acquire them? ”

OldJazzyGirl
“I shouldn't have to educate you on the problems of people who have less than you have. If you haven't noticed by now, you never will.”

“You won't because you can't.  When the facts don't match your perception of the world you hide behind tired platitudes and rhetoric.  Show me where in the US in a concentrated population area a person can't walk to the nearest convenience store and buy a pack of condoms.

You don't want access.  You want EASY access.  The problem isn't availability.  It's laziness. It's people behaving irresponsibly.  It's people making bad choices.
It would be nice if the condom fairy would wave her magic wand right before the moment of penetration.  Or in the case of "my man won't wear a condom", the birth control unicorn would come stab you in the arm once a month, but that isn't going to happen.

I understand that some people's lives are harder than others, but I defy you to find a major metropolitan area in this country where any person can't find affordable contraceptive options.  It might just take a little effort to find them.  But apparently for you, this is too much to ask.”

Sahib Sep 25, 2013 at 14:14:43 in Green
“"of people who have less than you" Honey, even when I was making $5 an hour and trying to decide which utility I needed the least, I paid for my own contraceptives. You know why? Because I thought it was the responsible thing to do. I was in no way prepared to have children so I took steps to make sure it didn't happen. I took personal responsibility. I understand that concept is an anathema to many of you on the left, but there it is.”

OldJazzyGirl on Sep 25, 2013 at 14:23:44
“Blah, blah, blah, blah, me, me, me, me, me. You have to be one lousy mother.”

Sahib Sep 25, 2013 at 14:39:39 in Green
“AHHHHH! Another favorite tactic of the left... "I have no facts to back up my assertions so I will resort to ad hominem attacks!" But yes, if teaching my boys that choices have consequences and teaching them to take responsibility for those choices constitutes a "lousy mother", I am happily a lousy mother. Psst.... Just don't tell my wife that I mentioned earlier, she thinks SHE is their lousy mother...”

And that devoted readers, is where OldJazzyGirl bailed... I have checked right up to the publication of this post, and to my great sorrow, OldJazzyGirl has abandoned me. But I am far from discouraged.  Because I know there are 100s just like her ready to spew their drivel.  This exchange was not the exception.  It is the norm.

Racism In A Colorado Elementary School

Aurora, CO is once again in the news.  Parents of students at Mission Viejo Elementary School in Aurora were shocked to discover that the school was instituting an after-school tutoring program for white students only.  A letter sent to parents from school principal Andre Pearson described the program and confirmed that it was for white students only.

Outrage has spread across the country, and Aurora has been descended upon by all the usual suspects.....Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, etc.  MSNBC and CNN have prominently featured this story, loudly decrying Pearson as "just another cracker principal trying to keep the black kids down".

When asked about the situation, President Obama responded "Obviously, the school principal acted stupidly.  I have asked the Department of Justice to immediately stop giving guns to Mexican drug traffickers and begin a full scale investigation of Mr. Pearson and his blatantly racist policies.  In this day and age we have no tolerance for segregation in our public schools."

I know what you are thinking right about now......"Geez Crew, if this is such a big story, why haven't I heard about?".    The answer is because it isn't true, at least not the part that the liberal race-baiters care about.

Mission Viejo Principal Andre Pearson (a black man) has in fact started a racist after-school tutoring program.  The reason you haven't heard about it is that the program is for "Students of Color" only.  White folks need not apply.

The story has been largely ignored by the mainstream media, as it doesn't fit conveniently into their twisted view of equality.   Discrimination against whites is okeydokey with the Sharptons and Jacksons of the world. The next time you see one of these ignorant scumbags in front of a camera, bloviating about some illusory racism, remember Aurora.  Remember a real racist like Andre Pearson.

The only news coverage I could find of the story is from the CBC station in Denver.  Their report is below...

Make Gun Ownership and Carry Mandatory!

Perhaps it is my Libertarian streak, but I'm not in favor of mandatory helmet laws for motorcyclists, or mandatory seat belt laws for motorists.  Under 18, no problem, let's make sure those children are protected. Adults should be able to make their own decisions about such things.  Don't get me wrong, I think if you ride/drive without such safety precautions you are making a mistake, but hey, the world needs organ donors.

What have we always been told about seat belt and helmet laws?  Over and over, nanny statists have justified such laws because of the cost to the public of people who don't wear seat belts and helmets.  You know, the medical costs, insurance premiums, blah blah blah.  Why should the taxpayer be on the hook because someone doesn't want to take basic precautions to protect themselves, right?

Well, what's good for the goose......Why not extend the libs own argument to gun ownership and carry?  I propose legislation be enacted requiring all adults who can currently legally purchase and own a handgun to do so immediately. Better yet, why doesn't the government issue a gun to all those citizens?  In addition, those adults will be required to carry said firearm with them at all times.

What happens now when some liberal anti-gun zealot gets raped in their home, or violently assaulted on the street?  Because they refuse to carry a defensive firearm, all they can really do is react when the crime is over.  They call 911, police officers are dispatched.  An ambulance and paramedics rush to the scene.  All of this requires tremendous expenditures of public monies.  Now you add in the man-hours logged by police investigating the crime, attorney fees/court costs if the perpetrator is apprehended, and ultimately the enormous costs of incarceration, and you end up with a financial boondoggle that even Dear Leader might cringe at.

Think of the tens of millions, maybe hundreds of millions of dollars that could be saved if we would just start whacking a few more criminals!  Even at today's inflated ammo prices, delivering a "brass verdict" on the street only costs a buck or two.  I haven't even mentioned the deterrent effect on future criminals that would undoubtedly result from this new policy.  Remember Jefferson's words..."An armed society is a polite society".

We will call this new legislation the SACSTW Firearms and Individual Responsibility Enactment, better known as FIRE!  Maybe instituting this new legislation nation-wide might be too much at first.  Let's test it out in the areas it is needed most, you know, like cities over 250,000 in population governed by a Democrat.

As a responsible carrier of a defensive firearm, I am tired of my tax money going to clean up after those people who refuse to make a commitment to their personal safety.  If I have to be buckling my seat belt, then you better be packing your gun.  Alas, I am skeptical of the chances of FIRE passing Congress, after all that would require liberals to disregard one of their basic tenets.....hypocrisy.

Inaugural Hypocrisy

Pastor Louie Giglio
Thanks to Reader Jill for pointing out the story of Pastor Louie Giglio, it's the latest in a remarkable string of hypocritical pronouncements from Dear Leader as he transforms the country into SecondTermica. In fact, the hypocrisy from the left is so Fast and Furious, I can hardly keep up with it. But I digress.

The 54 year old Giglio is pastor at the Passion City Church in Atlanta. He was invited to give the benediction at Dear Leader's upcoming inaugural. The invitation was rescinded when some complained about a Giglio sermon some 20 years ago in which the pastor described homosexuality as "a sin", and asked his followers to "lovingly but firmly respond to the aggressive agenda" of gay activists.

Huh!  A Christian pastor who says in a sermon that homosexuality is a sin.  I wonder where he got that sort of bizarre notion?  Perhaps he read it somewhere.  But I digress.

Here is the official statement from the Presidential Inaugural Committee.....

"We were not aware of Pastor Giglio's past comments at the time of his selection, and they don't reflect our desire to celebrate the strength and diversity of our country at this inaugural.  Pastor Giglio was asked to deliver the benediction in large part because of his leadership in combating human trafficking around the world.  As we now work to select someone to deliver the benediction, we will ensure their beliefs reflect this administration's vision of inclusion and acceptance for all Americans."

As Jill duly noted, this administration's definition of "all Americans" is somewhat less than inclusive, as the millions of Christians who live by Biblical principles are apparently not welcome.

At least Obama is consistent when it comes to pastors, I mean he was determined to put Jeremiah Wright's foul diatribes front and center when he ran in 2008, and not brush them off as comments from years ago by someone he barely knows.  Oh no wait, it was the other way around with Pastor Wright.  Man, keeping up with the misdirection and prevarication from our President and his minions is taxing even to my significant intellect!

Dr. Lowrey delivers his
heartwarming words of
inclusion and acceptance.
In closing, let us fondly look back at the "inclusive" words from Dr. Joseph Lowrey's benediction on Inauguration Day, 2009.  White people, can't you just feel the love and acceptance from Dr. Lowrey in these touching words.......

"we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead man, and WHEN WHITE WILL EMBRACE WHAT IS RIGHT"  (emphasis mine)

Dr. Lowrey evidently feels that whites have not embraced what is right in the interim, as he told a 2012 campaign crowd in October that "all white people are going to hell".  But I digress.

Guess who Liberals REALLY Hate?

Can liberals hate anyone more than someone who made these statements?
  • Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.
  • Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democrat answer, but the right answer. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.
  • The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.
  • (A favorite of mine) Washington is a city of Southern efficiency and Northern charm.
  • A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living. Today's military rejects include tomorrow's hard-core unemployed.
  • Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and honors the sword of freedom.
  • The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital... the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth in the economy.
  • I believe in an America where the free enterprise system flourishes for all other systems to see and admire - where no businessman lacks either competition or credit - and where no monopoly, no racketeer, no government bureaucracy can put him out of business that he built up with his own initiative.
  • The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.
What kind of lunatic right-wing nutjob came up with these doozies? Was it Reagan, Nixon, Goldwater, or W?  Man, this person must be the more hated by the left than any public figure in history!  Scroll down to see who it is..........

Executive Privilege Indeed!

Dear Leader's decision to cover up the Fast and Furious debacle through "executive privilege" is an interesting one.  On one hand, it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  After all, no President has enjoyed the "privilege" of being our executive as much as Barack Obama.  We know all about the 100 rounds of golf, the multi-million dollar vacations for Weezy and the kids, the White House hootenannies packed with A list celebs,  with each and every minute paid for by the American taxpayer.

On the other hand, Barry did promise to run the most open and transparent administration in history.  Umm, not so much. Even a Democratic senator is blasting the idea of "executive privilege", take a look at this quote.....

There's been a tendency on the part of this administration to try and hide behind executive privilege every time there is something a little shaky taking place.  I think the administration would be best served by coming clean in this.

That is true and prudent advice that Barack Obama would be wise to follow, after all those are his words.  In 2007, then Senator Obama made those comments on the Larry King show when asked about George W. Bush's use of executive privilege.  This President raises hypocrisy to an art form like no other.

If we can look past the glaring double standard that Barack Obama employs, things get really interesting.  Weren't we told at the beginning of the Fast and Furious scandal that Attorney General Stedman Holder and President Obama had no knowledge of the operation?  If that is true, what exactly is Dear Leader hiding?  Of course it isn't true, Obama and Holder are desperately trying to perpetuate the illusion that they were out of the loop on this one.

Let's not forget the bottom line here.   Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed with one of the guns provided to Mexican drug runners by Barack Obama's Department of Justice.  Period.  Agent Terry's family deserves justice and to know the truth.  Unfortunately, both of those are in short supply within the Obama Administration.  Right Barry?

Conservative vs. Lib Dichotomy

This is what conservatives proudly display:

Star Spangled Banner over Fort McHenry

This is what libs proudly display:

George W. Bush head on HBO's Game of Thrones

Any questions?

Can you imagine the cataclysmic outrage if this had been Dear Leader Obama?
Happy Flag Day everyone!

Monday Musings With The Crew

  • The NAACP is taking their case against voter ID laws to the United Nations.  The group will make a presentation in Geneva, Switzerland this week to the UN Human Rights Council addressing the NAACP's concerns that voter ID laws in the United States are discriminatory to black voters. I guess it makes sense.  After all, the membership of the UN Human Rights Council includes such experts in voting rights as Cuba, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, Uganda, and Libya.  I think the NAACP may have finally met an organization that can match their own level of hypocrisy.

  • Speaking of liberal hypocrisy, the price for it is evidently 1 million dollars.  That is how much Bill Maher contributed to the Barack Obama SuperPAC recently.  You remember Bill Maher, the left-wing misogynist who spews vile commentary about conservative women.  When informed of Maher's donation to his PAC, Dear Leader immediately directed the money be returned, saying "I am against all hate speech, including when it comes from the left.".  Whoops!  Sorry about that folks.  We must have slipped into an alternate universe where Barack Obama is a man of honor and principle.  Back here in the real world, the administration responded to Maher's donation by booking senior adviser David Axelrod to appear on Maher's HBO show.

  • Mrs. Crew pointed out an interesting blog to me this morning.  The Christian Left blog has an article called "The Enemies Within: The 20 Most Dangerous Conservatives and Their Organizations" from last August.  Quite frankly, I am outraged!  Sahib and I aren't on the list!  Obviously it is a complete sham!   Uh, wait a minute.  The article was published on August 5, 2011, a full 8 days before the Era of SACSTW began.  I fully expect we will be included in the 2012 update.
  • It's been a while since we ran a video of a squirrel in a peanut butter jar, soooo...........

That's it for this installment of Monday Musings.  Back to your bracket everyone!
PS- the first #1 to lose will be Syracuse vs KState in the second round.
