Breaking News- Democrat Leaders React To Reynolds Outrage

Earlier today I posted an article about Mel Reynolds, convicted sexual criminal and all around putz, throwing his hat into the ring for his old seat in Congress recently vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr.  I have spent the rest of today compiling a video montage of outrage expressed by various leading Democrats that such a man would dare to run under their party's banner........

Somehow the resignation last week of Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. slipped right past my eagle eyes.  J3 has been missing in action on Capitol Hill since taking medical leave on June 10, 2012.  At the time he cited "exhaustion" as the cause.  In August, reports surfaced that Jackson was in fact being treated for bipolar disorder.

Mental illness is nothing to sneer at, but pardon me for viewing those reports with a slightly jaundiced eye.  Perhaps somewhere in J3's character is an ounce of decency and honor, and that small part of him was in constant conflict with the 99.9% that is a lying, thieving scumbag (google the name Pius Ailemen).  But I digress.  

I'm sure the October 12, 2012 announcement by federal prosecutors that they were conducting a criminal investigation of J3 for financial improprieties involving Congressional (taxpayer) funds had NOTHING to do with his resignation.  He probably just needs more free time to update his 1999 book..It's About the Money, How You Can Get Out of Debt, Build Wealth, and Achieve Your Financial Dreams.  The tome's original edition is 288 pages.  The 2012 update is 1 page long.  "Get elected to Congress and steal money from the American taxpayer.  The End."  But I digress.

J3's resignation surely brought hope to the voters of Illinois's blighted 2nd Congressional District.  Perhaps finally, a person of character, honor, and integrity would represent them in Washington D.C.  Uh, not so much.

One of the first "people" to announce his intention to run for Jackson's vacated seat was former Congressman Mel Reynolds.  You remember Mel right?  He was elected to the 2nd District Congressional seat in 1992.  Before his 2 year term was up, he was convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice, and solicitation of child pornography, all involving an underage campaign volunteer.

In April of 1997, while in prison on those sex charges, Reynolds was convicted of 15 counts of various and assorted bank and securities fraud.  So he is quite a swell fellow.

While his announcing his plan to run for the vacant office, Reynolds was asked about his criminal history.  His response was very heartfelt and touching....and I quote....."The fact of the matter is, nobody's perfect.".  Indeed Mel, indeed.
