Rep. Andre Carson: Tea Party Wants To See Blacks ‘Hanging On A Tree’ - ABC News

Rep. Andre Carson: Tea Party Wants To See Blacks ‘Hanging On A Tree’ - ABC News

Looks like Representatives Carson and Waters are engaging in a little one-upsmanship in the arena of vile, inflammatory, and hateful commentary.  Maybe I will just sit back and wait for the head of the Congressional Black Caucus, Representative Emanuel Cleaver to denounce Carson's comments and urge more civility from the CBC.  Or, heavens to Betsy, maybe President Obama will chastise Representative Carson for "acting stupidly", as he did referring to the Cambridge, Mass police department.
One thing the ABC News blog failed to mention is that Representative Andre Carson is one of only 2 Muslims in the United States Congress.  I'm just sayin'.

Tea with Maxine

It's always comforting when a member of the United States Congress condemns millions of fellow Americans to eternal damnation.  The recent “tea party can go straight to hell” comment from the odious mouth of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Ca) is just the latest example of secular progressive hate speech.  Shall we review?

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fl):  "The real enemy is the tea party –- let's remember that. The tea party holds Congress hostage…They have one goal in mind, and that's to make President Obama a one-term president."

Jesse Jackson:  "The tea party is a new name on an old game. Dr. King fought a 'tea party' in Alabama...He had no weapons, but he confronted the tea party."

Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa):  “We have negotiated with terrorists….” referring to negotiations with tea party Republicans over the debt limit deal.

Vice-President Joe Biden: responding to Doyle…..”they have acted like terrorists”

Sen. John Kerry (D-Ma):  “This is a tea party downgrade……..”  referring to Standard and Poor’s downgrading of the U.S. credit rating.

Try a little experiment… settle into your favorite chair, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and imagine this...  Rep. John Doe (R-Anywhere) stands up at a town hall meeting and screams  “The New Black Panther Party are terrorists!  They can go straight to hell, and take the NAACP with them!”  Can we all agree that Rep. Doe’s political career would be over as the last syllable left his mouth?  Has anyone seen the news report of Maxine Waters being forced to resign over her execrable comments?  Me neither.  Has anyone seen or heard President Obama rebuke and disavow those comments?  Me neither.

Some try to explain to Maxine Waters and her ilk that Tea Party members are simply citizens who believe in personal liberties, want to reduce governmental intrusion and confiscation of assets, blah blah blah.  Why bother?  Secular progressives have heard it all before, and just simply don’t care.

It is time for true conservatives to realize that we are in a knock-down, drag-out, no holds barred steel cage match for the future of the United States.  The time for compromise and negotiation is over.  We believe American greatness is defined by individual liberty, opportunity, and achievement.  They believe greatness is measured by the size of the federal government, and the number of citizens dependent on the government for their every need.  Never the twain shall meet.  I see great difficulties and tumult in the years to come.  So did Oliver Wendell Holmes when he said ...."between two groups of people who want to make inconsistent kinds of worlds, I see no remedy but force".  Me neither.

Obama hits the Trifecta!

The Obama administration has hit the trifecta. In one bloated policy swoop, BO and his minions of evil have found a way to ignore current law they don't like, enact stalled legislation they do, and create a brand-new protected class. Who says Obama hasn't accomplished anything?

According to the New York Times, "The Obama administration announced Thursday that it would suspend deportation proceedings against many illegal immigrants who pose no threat to national security or public safety. " Who needs laws when you have policies? We don't like the current law so we'll just policy our way around it!

The next step was the de facto enactment of the stalled Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, or Dream Act. The NY Times also reports that "The decision would, through administrative action, help many intended beneficiaries of legislation that has been stalled in Congress for a decade. The sponsor of the legislation, Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Senate Democrat, has argued that “these young people should not be punished for their parents’ mistakes.” You won't pass the legislation we want? We'll enact it through policy!

The final piece in this triumvirate of unmitigated gall was the creation of a new protected class. I guess the left has finally run out of ideas of completely new groups to "protect", so they are now grouping them together. We now have the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Undocumented Worker class. Again, according to the NY Times, "White House officials said the new policy could help illegal immigrants with family members in the United States. The White House is interpreting “family” to include partners of lesbian, gay and bisexual people." Richard Socarides, a New York lawyer who was an adviser to President Bill Clinton on gay issues, said, “The new policy will end, at least for now, the deportations of gay people legally married to their same-sex American citizen partners, and it may extend to other people in same-sex partnerships.”

Some days, all I can do is shake my head and say WOW!

Down and Dirty with Jayalitha

I’m not prone to standing up for Barack Obama’s State Department, but U.S. Vice-Consul Maureen Chao is getting skewered by the “right to not be offended” crowd.  If you haven’t heard, Ms. Chao made a speech in Chennai, India last Friday that has sent  race baiters into the stratosphere.
During the speech in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Chao recounted a 24 hour train trip she made some two decades previously as a student in India.  Chao said “after 72 hours, the train still did not reach the destination…..and my skin became dirty and dark like the Tamilians”.
Response was swift, predictable, and pathetic.  Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalitha (yes, she goes by one name, don’t get me started), wrote in a letter to the U.S. Consul General….”This remark which smacks of racism is highly condemnable” and “you will agree that this remark of the vice-consul is an affront to all Tamils”.  Sorry, Jayalitha, I don’t agree.  At most, Chao’s remarks seem like a condemnation of India’s mass transit system more than anything else.  Seriously, a 72 hr train ride?  My skin got dirty and dark riding the L from Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field to the Navy Pier!  Anyone who has ridden a bus or train jammed with fellow travelers knows the sweaty, grimy, indeed “dirty” feeling that one can acquire.
What about the “dark” comment?  Here is a secret dear readers…..lean very close so no one around  can hear……you never heard this from me……most Tamilians are dark-skinned!  It is only the poisonous mindset of the “right not to be offended” crowd that interprets the adjective “dark” as being racist.
Early on in the 2008 presidential campaign, Joe Biden referred to then Senator Obama as “clean” and “articulate” in an interview published by The New York Observer.  Biden was subsequently lambasted by race baiters for his “offensive” comments.  I am trying to understand here.  The words “clean” and “dirty” are equally racially offensive, and should never be used in reference to a person who is, well, “dark”.
Maybe the “right to not be offended” crowd will just publish an exhaustive list of all words, phrases, thoughts, and actions that they deem unacceptable.  I know this poor, confused white boy would appreciate it.

The Curse of the Hyphen

How can so much trouble be caused by one simple punctuation mark?  It has fractionated and polarized American society to the point that members of the “majority” are in constant fear of offending those who wear the mark.  Of course, as Sahib so ably pointed out, there is no right to not be offended, but still the majority walks on eggshells.

I refer not to the mysterious semicolon, which appears to be either the mark used for that “winking” thingie, or a truly harrowing diagnosis to get from your gastroenterologist.  No, it is the simple hyphen, and the progressive left’s unquenchable lust for DIVersity, that is the scourge of our nation.

Liberals hyphenate us based on skin color, ancestral origin, sexual preference, religion, body mass index, and any number of other characteristics that can be used to DIVide Americans from one another.  Then, they conquer by pandering to subsets of American citizens in order to lock in votes for the next election cycle.  The end result is these artificially created minorities are kept in a grotesque political bondage by the Democratic Party, usually to the detriment of their quality of life.

I say ban the hyphen!  Let’s start celebrating those things that make us the same.  Our love for this great country, our devotion to our families, the freedoms provided us by the Constitution, and our desire for our children to have even better lives than we enjoyed.  In short, we all share hopes for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.  Our common hopes, dreams, and purposes make us, and our country, great.  DIVersity has nothing to do with it.

The Right to Not be Offended

I've been scouring my copy of the constitution recently and have been looking to find where we are guaranteed the right to not be offended. I am shocked, shocked I say, that I cannot find it. Many elementary schools can no longer have Halloween parades. The last school I attended historically had a Christmas party. Someone complained, so they changed it to the "Holiday Party". Someone complained again, so they changed it to the "Winter Festival Party". Being in student government at the time and part of the planning committee, I commented that we couldn't name it the "Winter Festival Party". The party was to be held on December 14 which I pointed out was technically in the Fall, so I recommended the "Fall Festival Party". The group enthusiastically endorsed my recommendation. I find droll humor is often missed by the political correctness police.

Why do we allow minute sections of society to pummel us with the sledgehammer of "diversity"? Why should the few get to dictate the actions of the many? What law makes any public group or organization an "offense-free" zone? Perhaps the wearing of the red, white, and blue is antithetical to my religion. Should others be prohibited from wearing this color combination because I claim I am mentally and emotionally damaged by the site of people wearing red, white, and blue?

People are not offended by actual words, symbols, and objects. They are offended by the context of those words, symbols, and objects. If I am not forcing my context on you, why should you be able to force your context on me?

To slightly alter Dennis Miller's tagline:
That's just my opinion, I could be wrong... but I'm not.
